Verdant Gardens: Where connections to nature, community, and one another grow together.

Hi, I'm Samantha.

I'm the founder and dreamer behind Verdant Gardens.

I've been gardening for nearly 15 years and have been captivated by the natural world for as long as I can remember. Whether I was exploring the woods as a child, watching pollinators in the garden, or studying ecosystems in school, I've always believed that nature has an incredible way of inspiring curiosity, bringing people together, and reminding us to slow down.

That passion led me to earn a Bachelor of Science in Conservation Biology from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, followed by a Master of Science in Geospatial Information Science for Development and the Environment from Clark University. For the past decade, I've worked in Geographic Information Science (GIS), using maps, data, and technology to better understand our landscapes and support environmental conservation. Looking at our world from a bird's-eye view has given me a deep appreciation for how every habitat, every pollinator, and every native plant plays a role in the health of our communities.

At home, though, my favorite classroom is the garden.

My husband and I are raising three wonderful children—George, Audrey, and Charlotte—and together we've been transforming our yard into a thriving pollinator habitat filled with native plants, vegetables, and flowers. I'm also a beekeeper and lead the Green Club at my son's elementary school, where students in kindergarten through fifth grade are planting native gardens, learning about pollinators, and discovering that caring for the environment can be joyful, hands-on, and full of wonder.

Those experiences—both professional and personal—sparked the vision for Verdant Gardens.

I wanted to create more than a beautiful garden. I wanted to create a place where children can dig in the soil, families can learn together, and our community can gather to celebrate life's meaningful moments surrounded by nature. A place where native landscapes feel welcoming rather than intimidating, where growing your own food feels achievable, and where education happens so naturally that you hardly realize you're learning.

My hope is that every person who visits Verdant Gardens leaves feeling a little more connected—to nature, to their community, and to the possibility of creating that same sense of wonder at home.

Thank you for following along as we bring this dream to life. We're excited to offer mobile garden party and workshop programming geared towards kids and adults!  Out search for the perfect place to call home is ongoing, and I can't wait to share the journey with you. I hope you'll join us through the blog, on Instagram, in your own backyard, and—one day soon—in the gardens themselves.
